Began her violin studies at the age of 3 in Gifu with Yasuhiro Aoyama. Since 2006 she had studied under professor Takashi Shimizu. In 2012 she was enrolled at the Tokyo National University of the Arts.
Most recently Chisa Kitagawa was awarded the second prize at The First International Victor Tretyakov Violin Competition in Krasnoyarsk and in 2018 she was awarded the second prize and the audience prize at the Second Singapore International Violin Competition.
She is also the winner of five international competitions, including the VII Beethoven International Violin Competition (Austria, 2012), the III Euroasia International Violin Competition (Japan, 2013) and the V International Solo Violin Competition in Cremona (Italy, 2014).
