A solo program consisting of:

  1. Concerto in E-flat Major in 3 movements by J. Haydn (B-flat or E-flat trumpet)
  2. One of the following pieces (C trumpet):
    - Cascades by A. Vizzutti.
    - Parable XIV by V. Persichetti.
    - Postcards by A. Plog.
    - Paths by T. Takemitsu.
  3. One of the following pieces (C or B-flat trumpet):
    - Intrada by A. Honneger.
    - Gavotte de concert by H. Sutermeister.
    - Legend by G. Enescu.

N.B. First Round should be performed in two parts. Part One should feature the performance of Haydn’s concerto, Part Two should feature the rest of the program.


FRENCH HORN

A solo program consisting of: 

  1. One of the following:
    - Horn Concerto No. 1 D Major, Hob. VIId:3 by J. Haydn (cadenza from “Henle” edition or cadenza composed by the performer). Henle Edition
    - Horn Concerto E flat Major, KV 417 by W.A. Mozart, Bärenreiter or Henle Editions.
  2. Scherzo “À la chasse” for horn and piano by V. Buyanovski. Edition: Izdateljstvo Muzika, Leningrad, 1962
  3. Barcarola from "The Seasons", Op. 37 No. 6 by P.I. Tchaikovsky (arr. by A. Usov). Edition: State Music Publishing House, (Moscow, 1958)

N.B. The competition program should be performed on a full double horn.


TROMBONE

A solo program consisting of: 

  1. Sinfonia by G. Pergolesi.
  2. One of the following:
    - Concerto for tenor trombone by A. Nesterov.
    - Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra by L. Grøndahl.
    - Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra by H. Тomasi.
    - Trombone Concertino, Op. 4 by F. David.


TUBA

A solo program consisting of: 

  1. Variations in Olden Style by T. Stevens.
  2. One of the following:
    - Capriccio for Solo Tuba by K. Penderezki.
    - Cassazione by L. Bashmakov.
    - Improvisation by V. Buyanovsky.
    - Adagio and Allegro, Op. 70 by R. Schumann.

TRUMPET

A solo program consisting of:

  1. One of the following works (piccolo trumpet):
    - Concerto in D Major in 3 movements by J. Fasch.
    - Concerto in D Major in 4 movements by G. Telemann.
    - Concerto in D Major in 2 movements by L. Mozart.
  2. One of the following pieces (B-flat trumpet):
    - Concerto for trumpet No. 1 in C Minor (1st movement) by V. Peskin.
    - Concerto for trumpet by A. Goedicke.
    - Concerto for trumpet (1st edition) by A. Pakhmutova.
  3. Solo de Concours in B-flat Minor by T. Сharlier (to be performed on the cornet or B-flat trumpet)

N.B. The semi-final round should be performed in two parts: Part One should feature the works for piccolo trumpet, Part Two should feature the rest of the program.


FRENCH HORN

A solo program consisting of: 

  1. One of the following:
    - Sonata for Horn and Piano, Op. 7 by J. Vignery. Edition: “Andel” or “Brogneaux”
    - P. Hindemith’s Althorn Sonata in E-flat Major (1943). Edition: “Schott”
  2. One of the following:
    - Sur les Cimes by E. Bozza. Edition: Leduc
    - En Forêt by E. Bozza. Edition: Leduc
  3.  “The Poem” by B. Anisimov. Edition: Izdateljstvo MUZGIZ, Leningrad, 1961

N.B. The competition program should be performed on a full double horn.


TROMBONE

A solo program consisting of: 

  1. Concerto for alto trombone by L. Mozart (traditional version, performed only on alto trombone, the order of movements is up to the performer’s choice)
  2. One of the following:
    - “Basta” for solo trombone by F. Rabe.
    - 3 pieces for solo trombone by V. Buyanovski.
    - “Keren” for solo trombone by I. Xenakis.
  3. Suite for trombone from The Queen of Spades by P.I. Tchaikovsky. Arranged for trombone and piano by C. Lindberg


TUBA

Program of no more than 30 minutes in length, consisting of:

  1. One of the following:
    - Sonata by V. Schmidt.
    - Sonata by A. Plog.
    - Sonata by T. Madsen.
    - Sonata by V. Kladnicki.
  2. A virtuosic piece of the performer’s choice.

TRUMPET

Performance with orchestra. Program (to be performed from memory) consisting of:

  1. Lensky's Aria from Eugene Onegin by P.I. Tchaikovsky (choice of instrument rests with the performer: E-flat, C, or B-flat trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn; direct transcription of the vocal part must be made by the performer; the opera’s score will be used to accompany the performer).
  2. One of the following concertos (C or B-flat trumpet):
    - Concerto for trumpet and orchestra by M. Weinberg.
    - Concerto for trumpet and orchestra by R. Shchedrin.


FRENCH HORN

Performance with orchestra. Program (to be performed from memory) consisting of:

  1. “Andante Cantabile” for Horn and Strings by P.I. Tchaikovsky (transcription by Maximiliano Santos from the version for cello and strings from String Quartet No. 1, Op. 11)
  2. Horn Concerto B-flat Major, Op. 91 by R. Glière (cadenza by V. Polekh). Edition: Izdateljstvo Muzika, Moskva 1964 or MCA Music, Melville, New York 1957

N.B. The competition program should be performed on a full double horn.


TROMBONE

Performance with orchestra. Program (to be performed from memory) consisting of:

  1. Eugene Onegin Suite by P.I. Tchaikovsky (arranged by V. Kruglik). Cadenza of the performer's choice. Cadenzas composed by contestants are recommended.
  2. Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra in C by N. Rota.


TUBA

Performance with orchestra. Program (to be performed from memory) consisting of:

  1. “Andante cantabile” for Tuba and strings by P.I. Tchaikovsky (transcription by Maximiliano Santos of the version for cello and strings from String Quartet No. 1, Op. 11).
  2. One of the following concertos:
    - Concerto for tuba and orchestra by A. Arutiunian.
    - Concerto for tuba and orchestra by G. Korchmar.
