Aleksey Popov (Trumpet)

He graduated from the St. Petersburg Mussorgsky Music College (class of Vitaly Serikov) and from the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory (classes of Veniamin Margolin and Mikhail Romanov). He completed his postgraduate studies there with Viktor Sumerkin.

A laureate of all-russian and international competitions including the I St. Petersburg Open Youth Competition for Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion, Young Talents regional competition, the V All-Russian Youth Competition for Brass and Percussion (Krasnodar), the IV Mravinsky International Youth Competition (St. Petersburg).

From 2006 to 2010 he was member of the St. Petersburg State Capella Orchestra, since 2011 has worked at the Mariinsky Theatre as member of the stage band. Currently he is an assistant principal trumpet of the Mariinsky Orchestra.
