Myonghyun Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1988. He has graduated from the Seoul National University College of Music in Korea and Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg in Germany.
Myonghyun is the recipient of awards from various competitions, including the Korea Voice Competition, where he received first prize. He was awarded 1st place in the SWR Young Opera Stars and 1st prize at the Neue Stimmen Singing Competition in Germany as well as 1st prize at the Luis Sigall Competition in Chile. He also received the 3rd prize at the Montreal International Competition and 4th prize at the Seoul International Competition. He has represented South Korea at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World.
He has performed the roles of Camille de Rossillon (Die lustige Witwe) at the La Fenice Teatro in Venezia in Italy and at the Volksoper Wien in Austria. He also performed the roles of Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte) at the Theater Freiburg (Germany) and Sou-Chong (Das Land des Lächelns) at the Theater Solingen (Freiburg).
Myonghyun also has performed Concert Opera Die Zauberflöte and Don Giovanni in Korea and he was invited for concerts from Germany, Chile, China and Japan.
