The International Tchaikovsky Competition is a legendary event in the world of classical music. That's why Moscow and St. Petersburg - the cities where #TCH16 is taking place, began preparing in advance and now are fully ready to welcome music enthusiasts from all over the world. Here is the list of some of the exciting exhibitions, initiatives and music events happening in Moscow and St. Petersburg, dedicated to this year's competition:
Fans will be able to watch the competition, participate in
discussions, attend lectures and exhibitions at the special fan zones organized at the Russian National
Music Museum, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Moscow Museum and the Academic Glinka Capella in Saint Petersburg. And don't forget that you will be able to catch every moment of #TCH16 here, on the official website for the competition, including exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and much more!
The photos feature winners, guests, jury members and the greatest moments of the first four competitions, which took place in 1958, 1962, 1966 and 1970. The exhibition will run until June 30, 2019.
In the beginning of June the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre hosted a series of concerts 'Preview to the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition'. Winners of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition such as Lukas Geniušas (piano), Alexander Buzlov (cello), and musicians of the Mariinsky Orchestra performed as soloists in the concert programs.
